Join Stan Woodman and be led by the traditional sweet sound of Sanskrit counting through the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga with emphasis on posture, breathing and a steady gaze. These 3 Pillars of Ashtanga Yoga help develop the witness inside of us by calming the mind through concentration. Through the witness, we begin to develop Viveka, the ability to distinguish between the real and unreal perceptions and beliefs we have about ourselves, others and the world around us. With Viveka comes Vairagya, the sense of clear physical, mental and spiritual discernment.
It’s time to come sit in the practice and how do you get there? We will explore the main transitions in primary series including jumping back and thru including some of the fun transition which come further along in the seated sequence. There will be discussion, a demo, and some playful practice. The techniques taught in this workshop will support your practice in all styles of yoga.
Come and explore Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra and discover a deeper understanding of why and what we are “practicing” on our yoga mat. Yoga is a means to engage our senses and a path to control the mind leading to great happiness, awareness and understanding of our true self. We will look at how Patanjali described “practice” and take a deeper look at the 8-limbs of yoga. This workshop is designed as a discussion/study group for anyone interesting in yoga. No yoga experience necessary.
Cost: $245 until Feb 1st then price goes up to $295
