So often when faced with stressful times there is a tendency to protect ourselves emotionally, energetically, and even physically by closing in the shoulders and collapsing the heart center. Unfortunately, this can lead not only to shallow breathing, rounded shoulders and upper back tensions; it may ultimately lead us to anxiety or even depression. Experience a challenging flow of asana at a vigorous pace that will heat your body while building strength and balance. Discover the power of Yoga through union with the breath and body. In this workshop we will work with Asana, Pranayama, and Guided Imagery to tap into the more gentle techniques for the shoulders that Yoga offers to heal on both the physical and emotional levels. With the appropriate practice integrating this approach, the body often responds so quickly that the tension in the neck, shoulders, and chest can be greatly improved. Often through this work the deeper emotional layers can be revealed that uncover how and why we have become blocked. We will explore the importance of technical accuracy of correct practice through in-depth partner work and nurturing hands-on adjustment. Uncover the elemental wisdom of the body through grounding, opposition, inner lightness, intimacy of flow, and the mind’s connection to your spirit.
