A high percentage of the population will experience back pain and tension during their lifetime. These conditions vary widely, however low back pain is the most common. Targeted yoga practices can help to prevent and manage discomfort in the lower back. In this workshop, you will experience gentle warm-ups to stimulate circulation in the lower back, flowing sequences that focus on the six movements of the spine and asanas to stretch and strengthen the muscles that support the spine. This workshop is suitable for yoga practitioners of all levels.
Irene Genovese Pica has been teaching yoga in Fairfield County for over 21 years. Certified in the Kripalu tradition, she has also studied with world-renowned teachers including Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea and Gary Kraftsow. She is registered with Yoga Alliance at the advanced E-RYT 500 level. In 2001, she founded Symmetry Yoga Center in Westport, CT and served as its director until joining Kaia Yoga from 2010 until June 2016.
